Wimmers , Florian

Florian is a PhD student working on anticancer vaccination with a focus on cancer-specific T cell responses and he is also fascinated by technology. Current projects are based on the ex vivo analysis of primary lymphocytes from healthy donors and cancer patients. Studies focus on deciphering the functional heterogeneity of vaccine-specific T cell responses, improving and extending current immunomonitoring approaches, and studying T cell activation on a single cell level. To achieve this, a variety of research techniques is employed ranging from multicolor flow cytometry to single cell droplet microfluidics. Florian received a MSc degree in Molecular Mechanisms of Disease (cum laude) from Radboud University Nijmegen and a BSc degree in Biochemistry (with distinction) from Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf. During his studies he conducted several internships at institutes abroad including the Max-Planck-Institute for Biomedicine, Münster, Germany and the Institute for Research in Biomedicine, Bellinzona, Switzerland.
